KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia — Health Minister Datuk Serram Aziz said Wednesday that the Malaysian government will have a new mandate to issue new prescriptions for men over 18, including Viagra, Cialis and the combination.
Aziz said that he would continue to prescribe the drugs as prescribed by the Ministry of Health, as well as for other medicines.
"The ministry will continue to issue new drugs as required by the Malaysian Health Insurance (MHLI) Act," he said.
Aziz said the ministry will also issue a set list of medicines with the highest price tag to consumers.
Aziz said the new list of medicines will be provided after the Health Ministry has received the notification of the new drugs.
"The ministry will have to submit the new list of medicines to the Malaysia Ministry of Health, as well as the Ministry of Health to ensure they are safe and effective," he said.
Aziz said the Ministry of Health will continue to monitor the sale of drugs in the country to prevent the misuse of the drugs.
